The Management Team—Succession Planning Introduction: Havering Cormorants Diving Club recognises the need to be able to find key people to fill key positions within our club as they arise.
One specific area of effective club development is ‘Succession Planning’ which the club has implemented to ensure effective club management, coaching and membership development.
What is Succession Planning: Succession Planning can be described as identifying future management team members, skill development coaches and diving squad members who are available, competent and willing to fill Club or squad vacancies when they arise.
Importantly our Plans will always include the identification and recruitment of volunteers who have the time and commitment to deliver our club aims. Without the volunteer we would not be where we are today.
Effective Succession Planning will ensure we have the right person in the right job at the right time for the right reasons.
The Club Approach: Succession Planning will only be effective if it forms a central part of our overall club development and therefore must becomes the joint responsibility of all of our members.
As part of our overall development the Management Team will be required to regularly consider the make up of our club. Issues such as: - Pending Retirements
- Long Term Sickness
- Reflective and Required Membership Balance
- Volunteer and Diving Squad Development
This approach will ensure effective future planning and development opportunities for the club management team, club volunteer and athletes.
Club Implementation: By adopting the recommendations of the ASA for key club positions, volunteer development and coach education, which outlines required competencies, will ensure training opportunities for effective individual and overall club development.
Monitoring and Review: This policy will be monitored by the Management Team and regularly reviewed by Chairman/Club Secretary and Chief Coach/Attendance Secretary.
Equality and Diversity: The application of this policy will take into account and reflect equality and diversity.
